Sometimes All I Need is Mostly Pointless and I'm In

Well, I know this is blog is basically a dead body at this point, but that doesn't mean I've stopped harboring the desires for someday running a writer's community of some sort, and it seems like the people I gathered still wander over to see if there's fresh moss on the bones, so it seems like a new post isn't completely pointless.

So, here it is; a fast post up for the people who were around when I started what became the Lucky One project. I am still writing. I finished what I call the zero draft awhile ago. I got most my ideas, characters and plot lines down and promptly started writing over. At first I tried to edit what was written to form it to what I wanted, but I quickly discovered what is faster for me is rote re-writing. So that's what I've been doing, working on the first official draft of Lucky One.

Start to finish the zero draft ended with a word count of 55,000 words. So far on the re-write is at 32,000. It's hard to guess where the 1st draft will end up but my current guess would be around 80,000 words. I try to work on it everyday. But, I work and have a family and, as much as I try to focus and streamline my focus, I still have interests other than writing I have to attend to now and then. So once in a rare while when I have a lot of quiet and caffeine, I crank 4,000 words and still get all those Other Things done. Most days, I have to be happy to crank out 1,000 words before work and if Other Things are persisting, I have to be satisfied with little more than some light editing, which for me typically takes a word-count down.

Editing is kind of fun!

So far, 20 pages deep. I have about 95 single spaced pages so far. But, I also wrote fast, meaning I wrote intending to edit stuff, so there are plenty of parts I kind of rushed through knowing I'd make it more awesome during editing.

Yay for awesomer!

As I go

Well my current editing is going well. The draft is of course getting bigger, but I figured that would happen. Steady on, steady on!

We Be Chuggin'

Chuggin' along that is. Not whiskey. Not after last night.

That's beside the point though. I've finished a rough draft of Lucky One. A very rough draft, but that's why we edit, non?

So, just so you jerks know, I am know having at the story from the beginning, adding much as I go. Especially the first part since it was written to try to adhere to a four page installment a lot of it has to be redone. This is the draft I am going to finish and send out, so I suppose this is a warning, someday soon, I will be calling in a favor.

Gotta Keep My Writing Hand Strong--WITH YOUR FACE

Hello everyone.

I know, I know. Its okay. I'm sorry too.

Things happen though. Some people even say there's a reason involved. Me, I dunno. I'm just trying to keep up with life.

But, I continue to write. It still helps the crazy. A mechanism for defusing the insanity is something I'm going to say pretty much everyone needs. If you don't have such a mechanism, well for the love of god, keep taking the Thorazine.
